After weeks of analysis...
The white hypoestes shrub in my possession displayed good growth thus far, even flowering has occurred too. It has progressed from being a tiny little leafy dark green shrub to a tall less leafy plant whom is now a lighter shade of green. During the day upon being mounted on the window sill ensuring that it takes in as much sun as possible it would seem as though it were leaning towards the light source radiating from outside the window. At night the plant would seem as though it had moved now into an upright position...standing almost in a solitary position as that of a soldier.
As I got home I
took my plant out of the soil and washed the roots. As soon as the
roots were clean I then placed it in a jar. The jar was filled with
water. I made use of a sponge to stop the plant from falling in the
water. The roots were clean all plant needed now were sunlight. I
placed my plant in front of the kitchen window (to prevent direct
sunlight). Make sure you change your water regularly. I changed the
water of my plant every Thursday. I also took picture every day to
monitor my plant(you can also measure the length of your plant or
count the number of leaves).
Preparation upon recieving my Hypoestes shrub...
On the day upon receiving my plant the task of setting up an apparatus to carry out the experiment was at hand. It was required of me to make sure that the roots were thoroughly cleansed which took approximately three days to free the plant of all soil debris, the apparatus comprised of a glass jar that would contain the water and a funnel to support the plant partially in the water. The plant was expected to grow only on water and sunlight-an integral aspect for primary producers to generate nutrients for growth during a process known as photosynthesis.

UPDATE ON THE PLANT
HI MY NAME IS PHELOKAZI GAGELO. MY PLANT IS PINK IN COLOUR AND I CALL IT LUCY AS IT IS NOW MY CHILD AND AS FAR AS I KNOW EVERY CHILD NEEDS A NAME. THE PLANT HAS BEEN GROWING QUITE WELL BECAUSE I SEE NEW GROWTH ALMOST EVERYDAY. AS EXPECTED, THERE ARE LEAVES THAT ARE DYING BUT IT IS STILL ALIVE AT THE CURRENT MOMENT. MY PROBLEM NOW IS RECORDING THE INFORMATION. AT TIMES I TEND FORGET TO DO IT, ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M UNDER A LOT OF PRESSURE FROM ALL THE WORK WE GET.
my plant is still progressing fine but loosing a few leaves. It has always been a big concern that it lost a lot of leaves and the condition is not the same as it looked like before.During the long weekend i noticed that there was a slight growth in my plants height.Basically the plant is loosing and gaining a few leaves. The observation is going well so far i just hope that it is not going to die.

I got green hands... After all
What turned from an average day at the office spiralled into a 18 hour character building, patients testing, day I so badly want to forget.
Thursdays are one of my hectic days. My day at campus starts at 8:30 and ends at 18:30. After receiving my plant I was struck with a sudden concern for my little red photosynthetic friend, I drive a motorbike. How am I getting it home without hurting it? More importantly, seeing that I have training in a few minutes, how do I keep this plant from being the arsenal my fellow team-mates use to attack me in the locker room?
Luckily for me I could find a small box to put my plant in. Perfect size and shape. I then had to force it in my Karimore back-pack next to my lunch box and training shoes. I knew it looked funny but at least my plant was going to be okay. Unfortunately for me, thats where the happily ever after ends. I get the stadium and I'm already 10mins late and I am getting myself ready to run an extra lap. I completely forgot to close my bag completely as everyone was already busy warming up. Lets just say after practise I was no longer Willie with the safe hands but rather with the green once. After being called from Old mcDonald to the first coloured Sangoma, I was on my way home.
On arrival I took my plant out and started to clean the roots as best I could. Turns out this job sounds easier then it actually is.Luckily for me my mom had a vase with a 3L capacity. Of couse this had to be found first. After spending 2hours cleaning, adjusting and finding the perfect place to put my plant. "Man what a beauty" I thought.
To summarise what has happened in the health and other aspects of my plant. For some reason everything is going good. To date I have nearly 20 new leafs formed and 9 leafs died. My plant is busy losing its red colour however it is growing nice and tall at a stable rate. My roots have spread out nicely. I have a small problem developing with insects but I guess they need to survive as well.
